THE VICINITY
Dolphin cottage sits just above the white sand beaches and red rocks of Binalong Bay. Combining a sense of remoteness with access to nearby amenities in St Helens, with its supermarkets, charming bric a brac and antique shops, and the best fresh fish on the East coast. There is even a serpentarium for the kids! Further afield are Pyengana cheese factory next to the famous Pub in the Paddock, impressive waterfalls in lush rainforests, the historical tin mining site with world class mountain bike trails, the Eddystone Point lighthouse, the spectacular ‘Gardens’ – rocky outcrops of the Bay of Fires – and a myriad of beaches, inlets and lagoons to explore.
You can even walk down to the nearby “Gulch” and take a boat ride with Bay of Fires Eco Tours, which will have you looking at dolphins, whales in season, and seals, as well as the famous isolated Bay of Fires beaches and lichen covered rocks – best seen in its entirety from the water. If staying on the land is more your thing, you can book a tour with Tas4x4 Tours, which operates right here from Binalong Bay. Or walk to Merestä Eatery, less than 50 meters down the hill and enjoy coffee, lunch or dinner – or even grab a takeaway pizza or fish and chips – to enjoy back on the deck.
